The following statements are living statements that reflect our best understanding at this time of what it means to be people of faith in community together.

Statement of Identity: At Shantz Mennonite Church we are followers of Jesus Christ, called by God and empowered by the Holy Spirit, to grow as a community of grace, joy, peace, and reconciliation so that God’s healing and hope flow through us as a witness to the world. We are a church community formed around our faith in Jesus Christ and our conviction that salvation comes through Him. We are guided by the Bible, by prayer, and by the Holy Spirit, trusting God will be present in our journey throughout our lives.

Statement of Invitation: In our covenant with one another, Shantz Mennonite Church celebrates and affirms the image of God in all persons and commits to fostering a safe community of care, kindness and mutual respect. We welcome people of all races, cultures, faiths, socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, generations and abilities to our community and space.

Statement of Participation: We invite all to participate in the full life and Christian ministry of Shantz Mennonite Church, including membership, baptism, marriage, congregational leadership, and pastoral ministry, recognizing that being in community with one another and the call to leadership involve meaningful and ongoing discernment and prayer.

Statement of Practice: We highly value Jesus’ call to unity in the church and commit to being in supportive fellowship with one another. We value our theological diversity, believing that faith and biblical understanding happen best in community. We recognize one another’s personal and spiritual integrity and seek to offer grace to one another even if we disagree. We believe that our diversity energizes and stretches us, helping us to grow, and with God’s help, allows the mystery of faith to flourish.
